Thomas & Joanne Parker

Children's Theatre & School of the Arts (CTSA) is Utah's premiere theatre for children.
Originally Founded as Salt Lake Repertory Theatre (City Rep) in 1986, by Thomas & Joanne Parker. Together they created an environment for children to explore drama by watching plays, taking drama classes and performing.
In August 2007, The legacy was passed down to their son, James Parker, who created a new non-profit organization known as Children's Theatre & School of the Arts.
The CTSA staff and board in defining the role of children's theatre and the effect on the community at large. CTSA has set a standard for education in theatre for young people, the creation of original productions, and theatre school.

During the school year, Utah's school children attend morning matinees each year through CTSA's School Performance Program. This program develops literacy and cultural experiences critical to a well balanced "educational diet".

CTSA is located in downtown Salt Lake City. From 1993 to 2007 It operated in a 15,000 square foot furniture wharehouse turned theatre and has a 250-seat auditorium. Since occupying this facility we have served over 600,000 children and families through our public performances, school performances, and theatre school. CTSA is also dedicated to building relationships with teachers, schools and our community.The inspiration of theatre can develop critical thinking, develop self-confidence, and enrich the imagination. CTSA provides training for all ages ranging from a first time student to our new performance season, Youth Stage. Our classes help to develop confident young people who understand the power of working together to achieve success. Each year, 600 students, ages 5-18 attend our school.
